JAY-Z Gives Inspiring Speech At Annual Trayvon Martin Peace Walk -- Watch

JAY-Z gave an inspirational speech at the sixth annual Trayvon Martin Peace Walk in Miami, Florida.

The rapper/mogul's appearance at the event was a complete surprise. No one in the public knew that he was going to attend. But, there he was moving the hundreds of marchers who were all there to honor the slain teen.

“It’s very important, the support you guys are showing and the strength that Sabrina and Tracy and the family are showing,” the 4:44 rapper said, while speaking about Martin’s parents. “And we want to make sure we stand in support and we never forget that Trayvon served as a beacon of light to all the people out there, so you guys would never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through.”

JAY continued: “His name will sit alongside some of the greats who lost their life to push our culture forward. The Martin Luther Kings, the Ghandis, that’s the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope to push us in a better direction.”

On February 26, 2012, unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, as Martin was walking home in his dad's gated community. Zimmerman would later be acquitted of the teen's murder.

Hov has a special love and appreciation for Martin. Last year, JAY-Z announced that he's producing a feature film and six-part docu-series about his life and death. Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story is premiering on the Paramount Network in July 2018.
