Grandpa-Granddaughter Duo Have Adorable Social Distance Dance-Off

A 6-year-old named Kira Neely has been virtually inseparable from her grandparents ever since her Grandmama and Papa moved in across the street in their Nashville, Tennessee, neighborhood. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic prompting everyone to remain socially distant out of concern of passing the disease as an asymptomatic carrier of coronavirus, the adjustment has been difficult for their granddaughter.

That’s when she and her grandpa, Marvin Neely, came up with a brilliant idea.

On Monday (March 30), Kira’s mother, Sherrie Neely, shared a video of her father and daughter spending time together with daily social distance dance-offs. In the clip, the kindergartner and her 80-year-old Papa bust out their best dance moves on opposite ends of their street to the sounds of The Jackson Five’s “ABC,” and it honestly doesn’t get any cuter than this.

“Kira loves her ‘Papa’ so much and they've now started daily ‘dance offs’ since the virus is keeping them separated,” Sherrie wrote with the video on Facebook. “My Dad is turning 81 years old next month and I've never seen him dance, but he's really putting forth great effort and has some special moves!!!! 😄 I'm sure the workers think we're crazy!!!”

Speaking with Today, Sherrie added, "All the changes with the virus and social distancing have just made me even more thankful and grateful to have them near. … The fact that we can still get outside and have fun from a distance means everything to us, and helps to give us a sense of normalcy in such a crazy time. I'm so thankful Kira will always have these memories of her time with her Papa."
