After initially filing for divorce from her estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock, in June 2020, Kelly Clarkson has been declared legally single. The news comes after Us Weekly obtained court documents on Friday (September 24), revealing that a judge had signed off on the former couple's single status a month ago in August.

The couple will officially be divorced on January 7, 2022. Clarkson and Blackstock share two children together, River Rose, 7, and Remington Alexander, 5. Clarkson had filed the motion to be declared legally single in July, while she and Blackstock were continuing on with their divorce proceedings. The singer has also been ordered to pay $150,000 in spousal support each month to Blackstock starting on April 1, 2021. According to Us Weekly, the final settlement agreement is still being worked out.

While Clarkson has been dealing with a lengthy divorce from Blackstock, that has not affected her friendship with her co-star on The Voice, Blake Shelton, who had formerly been managed by Blackstock. Shelton had initially encouraged the former couple to get together and even offered to perform at their wedding.

Clarkson maintains custody of her two children and recently brought them onto her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. The episode saw her chatting with Coldplay's Chris Martin, and she explained that her daughter, River, was a huge fan of the song "Yellow." She asked if he would be willing to perform it for them, only for the song to be interrupted when the kids revealed they desperately needed to go to the bathroom.
