GloRilla was honored with her hometown's most prestigious award in front of thousands of screaming fans.

The Grammy-nominated artist was presented with the key to the city on Sunday, September 1, during her hometown's 901 Day celebration in Downtown Memphis. Mayor Paul Young was on-site to present Big Glo with the award for her accolades over the past three years. She's the third Hip-Hop artist to receive the key including her label boss Yo Gotti and Drake. In videos posted to social media, you can see Glo smile from ear to ear as she surprised fans with a live performance of songs like "TGIF."

“Memphis made me Frayser raised me," Glo wrote in her caption. "I got da key to my cityyyyy ahhhhh 🥳🥳🥳🥳Happy 901 day MEMPHIS!!!!!!"

GloRilla's major honor in her city comes ahead of her debut performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The 25-year-old is also nominated for four awards including "Best Hip-Hop," "Push Performance," "Song of the Summer" and " Best Collaboration" for her song "Wanna Be" with Megan Thee Stallion. You never know who will pop out during her set. Her touring partner Meg is also the host of the awards show so it's possible that she could surprise fans during Glo's set.

In addition to GloRilla and Megan The Stallion, other artists like LL COOL J, Fat Joe, Anitta, Karol G, Lenny Kravitz and more will also hit the stage. The MTV VMAs are going down on September 11 at the UBS Arena in New York.
