Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen denied speculation that the team would consider trading primary wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. despite his slow start to the 2025 NFL season.

"We have no plans to move Brian Thomas," Coen said on Monday (October 27) via ESPN. "I've got a lot of confidence in him."

Thomas currently leads the Jaguars with 365 receiving yards and is second behind rookie Travis Hunter with 28 receptions, however, is tied for second among all NFL players with five drops, according to ESPN Research. The Louisiana native standout only had four total drops during his breakout rookie season, which saw him finish third in the league with 1,282 receiving yards behind only fellow LSU alum Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals (1,708) and Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings (1,533), while also recording 10 receiving touchdowns.

Coen said his pass offense would run through Thomas upon his hiring in January, however, said he needed to call more plays with Hunter as the primary option prior to Jacksonville's Week 7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, was selected by the Jaguars at No. 2 overall as a wide receiver and cornerback in April and is coming off the best offensive performance of his young career, recording a career-best eight receptions for 101 yards and his first career touchdown on a season-high 67 offensive snaps in Week 7 prior to the Jaguars' bye week.
