The New York Police Department released two images of a person of interest in relation to the shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd.

The unidentified individual was "described as male, medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag" and reported to have "fled the location on foot traveling eastbound on West 38 Street to parts unknown."

Boyd, 29, was reported to be in critical, but stable condition after the shooting on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday (November 16). The Jets confirmed that Boyd was the victim identified in the shooting.

“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time,” a representative said in a statement obtained by the New York Post.

Ernest Quander, who has been Boyd's friend since his collegiate career at the University of Texas, also told the New York Post that the cornerback was in "good condition" on Sunday.

“He’s all good right now. He’s in good condition. He’s doing real good,” Quander said.

“He’s a soldier, through tough times” he added. “He’s fine. He’s fine.”

Boyd was reportedly shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant following a dispute that escalated when the gunmen fired two shots, law enforcement sources confirmed to the New York Post. The suspect fled the scene in a BMW X8 SUV and witnesses were described as being uncooperative with police officers at the scene.

A second vehicle, a silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach, was also reported to have fled the scene after shots were fired. Photos from the scene also showed a luxury armored Rhino GX SUV reported to be worth up to $300,000 parked outside the restaurant after officers arrived.

Boyd was reported to have been in and out of consciousness prior to being rushed to the hospital, where he was said to be in critical, but stable condition. No arrests have been made in relation to the shooting and an investigation is ongoing.

Boyd signed a one-year contract with the Jets this past offseason and was placed on injured reserve on August 18. The former University of Texas standout was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent his first four NFL seasons with the franchise before stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2023) and Houston Texans (2023-2024).
